I also think it could be helped by a background, and some more detail in other areas (especially the hair, clothing, and forward hand)to match what you've put into the face. Along these lines it's a little strange conceptually to see someone sitting at a sewing machine without anything to sew.
The anatomy on the far arm also seems off (especially the elbow/forearm transition, but it could be a proportions thing that is just drawing my eye there.) The perspective is nice, and I think some indication of background elements could help sell it.

Could people please tear this apart? I really want to put it in my portfolio, but it's got too many issues at the moment.
